A snowing rhyme that I made up! =D

So, it’s been snowing here lately, and I made up a little rhyme!

♫ “It’s snowing, it’s blowing, the old man ain’t snoring, he jumped out of bed, and ran outside and made a silly snowman!”♫
Aww, look at him! He loves snow, that’s my boy!
This photo was not from this year ’10, it was from ’09!

Book review~ On The King Raven Trilogy~

I have been reading a book series called, The King Raven Trilogy by Stephen. R. Lawhead. The whole Trilogy is a remix of Robin Hood well in a way, the author relocated the main character (Bran ap Brychan, or kinda sorta Robin Hood) from Sherwood Forest to Wales, I know, it’s kinda funky, but it is a great book!  The first book is named Hood, I have just finished it. It is one of the best book series I’ve read! And an all-in-all good source of literature!

Hood: Definitely a young Adult book, has quite a few hard words, but after the first five chapters or so you will be sucked into a world of adventure, peril, and a bit of romance! Great book for 11 years and up, or maybe for some kids 13 years and up would be preferable.

I haven’t read the second or third books yet (Scarlet, and Tuck) but I will update  as soon as I do! =D

A Song of the Dwarves: From The Hobbit~

Chip the glasses and rack the plates!
Blunt the knives and bend the forks!
That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates-
Smash the bottles and burn the corks!

Cut the cloth and tread on the fat!
Pour the milk on the pantry floor!
Leave the bones on the bedroom mat!
Splash the wine on every door!

Dump the crocks in a boiling bowl;
Pound them up with a thumping pole;
And when you’ve finished, if any are whole,
Send them down the hall to roll!

That’s what Bilbo Baggins hates!
So, carefully! carefully with the plates!

From the Hobbit~

Lord of the Rings Poem~

An Elven-maid there was of old,
A shining star by day:
Her mantle white was hemmed with gold,
Her shoes of silver-grey.

A star was bound upon her brows,
A light was on her hair
As sun upon the golden boughs
In Lorien the fair.

Her hair was long, her limbs where white,
And fair she was and free;
And in the wind she went as light
As leaf of linden-tree.

Beside the falls of Nimrodel,
By water lear and cool,
Her voice as falling silver fell
Into the shining pool.

Where now she wanders none can tell,
In sunlight or in shade;
For lost of yore was Nimrodel
And in the mountains strayed.

The elven-ship in haven grey
Beneath the mountain-lee
Awaited her for many a day
Beside the roaring sea.

A wind by night in Northern lands
Arose, and loud it cried,
And drove the ship from elven-strands
Across the streaming tide.

When dawn came dim the land was lost,
The mountains sinking grey
Beyond the heaving waves they tossed
Their plumes of blinding spray.

Amroth beheld the fading shore
Now low beyond the swell,
And cursed the faithless ship that bore
Him far from Nomrodel.

Of old he was an Elven-king,
A lord of tree and glen,
When golden were the boughs in spring
In fair Lothlorien.

From helm to sea they saw him leap,
As arrow from the string
And dive into the water deep,
As mew upon the wing.

The wind was in his flowing hair,
The foam about him shone;
Afar they saw him strong and fair
Go riding like a swan.

But from the West has come no word,
And on the Hither Shore
No tidings Elven-folk have heard
Of Amroth evermore.

Caterpillar/Butterfly to be –>

We planted a bunch of Tomato plants in spring. And left them for two weeks while we went to Mississippi. Anywhoo… when we came back we found that our Tomato plants had turned into a vicious Jungle of bugs and JUICY Tomatoes! But on those Juicy Tomatoes we found some extra giant Juicy Caterpillars! Of course, we pulled them off and KILLED them! Mwaaahahaha! Alright…back to the story…

Well we continued to find these… Caterpillars, all the time and Eventually...my Dad suggested that we take one and put it in a jar and watch it turn into a butterfly! Well all of this, getting a Caterpillar, and putting him in the jar-junk, just happened yesterday, Aug. 28. And from here I will update you when I have more to tell you…and maybe even some pictures of the Caterpillar (soon to be a butterfly!).

“Rabbit and Clams”

About a day or two ago, my Dad, my brother and I were going to a little park to throw a baseball around, when as we where leaving our road, I saw a tiny baby rabbit (that shouldn’t have been out of his hole) about to hop across the road! So I said, “Dad! Look a little baby rabbit!” So he stopped, jumped out of the car and ran after the little guy! The little rabbit bounced around everywhere, and finally started to bounce in the (not busy) road, and tripped at least three times, and the third time he fell on his side and Dad scooped him up! As soon as my Dad got back in the car with the little rabbit curled up in his strong, yet gentle hands, I had a little bag ready to put him in, and my Bub (brother) had a little towel for the little rabbit to curl up in. My Bub and I decided to name him Hazel, from the book Watership Down! We drove back to the house with him and gave him to Mom for safe keeping.

Then we went to the park, played and came back. While we were at the park my Dad and I went into a river that ran by the woods that skirted the park. In the river we found a grave yard of little empty clam shells. My Dad explained to me that it was beavers who dug them up and, with their teeth, opened them up and ate them! My Dad and I went and looked in the sand, and saw little light spots that showed up under the sand. My Dad scooped up a hand full of the light spots, and as he removed the sand from his hands we saw that he had at least five clams in his hands! I did it and the same thing happened, except I didn’t let them all go! I picked one out and tried to open it with my fingernails, but it didn’t work so I said, “Dad can you please help me get this open?!” He helped me with his pocket knife. Well it worked and I got to see the inside of a clam shell! It looked like a white tongue! My Dad kinda-sorta dissected it and inside of the muscle we saw dirt that he was filtering through himself to get the particles (or whatever he gets from the dirt) out! Dad looked for a fresh-water pearl inside the clam but we didn’t find any.

When we got home, my Dad said that we could show Sav the baby rabbit! So we did and she loved it and got a lot of joy out of it! The reason we took the little rabbit was because earlier my Dad saw a little rabbit squished on the road (Mother rabbit, or so my Dad thought!). Well, my Mom said that her and Sav went for a walk and saw a Mother rabbit right where we had found Hazel (baby rabbit). So my Dad said we should let him go! So we did. And that’s all there is, there isn’t any more.

“Dad the Incredible, and the Lawn Mower part 2″

This is the continuation of  “Dad the Incredible, and the Lawn Mower”. Enjoy!

After a whole half a day of trying to get under Old John by getting a tool box, putting a plank of wood over it, and trying to drive up it, Chris had to figure out another way to get to Old John. Well reader, that didn’t really work, because if you think about it Old John Deer was too heavy to drive up a little tool box with a little plank of wood over it! So Chris had to think of some other way of getting to John’s under belly!

So Chris thought of an idea that Beth (Mom) didn’t really like! Chris thought of lifting Old John up and setting him on his bottom! Well dear reader, it worked! Chris was finally able to get to John’s blades and fixed them. Old John Deer is happily mowing with Chris once again!
